Form sheets, with love.

And I wish, your scent could sink its warmth onto me like the ashes raining on the cold metal. -Borderline

Form Sheets, with Love began from my long-standing fascination with origami; how a flat surface can transform into structure through a series of designed actions. Translating this principle into stainless steel became a study in material behavior: I iteratively tested thicknesses, perforation geometries, and bend tolerances to find the point at which the sheet would yield just enough to fold by hand while remaining structurally robust.

The final form is the result of balancing rigidity and flexibility through controlled perforation. By calibrating the spacing and dimension of perforations and relief cuts, the sheet becomes a self-forming object, revealing its final shape only when the user bends it into place. This act turns the recipient into a collaborator, allowing them to perform the last step of the manufacturing process.

The product mimics the intimacy of a letter -an envelope sent flat, carrying both a message and potential. Once unpacked, it becomes an incense holder shaped through the user’s involvement. The contrast between cold metal and the warmth of ritual, between precision cuts and soft scent, reflects my ongoing interest in how emotional experience can emerge from the constraints of material logic.

The project explores, sheet-metal behavior, design engineering, and iterative prototyping, how tactile interaction in the moment of creation can become part of a product’s identity.
